Our lead abatement process
Are you looking for lead abatement services? You own a house built before 1978, a renovation is about to disturb old paint, or a test has already come back positive. We deal with lead paint hazards in homes and commercial buildings, starting with a free, no-commitment inspection.
1Test the paint
Call and we set a time for a free inspection. Lead paint hides under newer coats, so we check where it wears first: window sashes, door frames, stairs and porch rails. We test suspect surfaces before anything is disturbed and give you the results in writing.
2Keep the dust in one room
Lead harms people as dust, not as a painted wall. So before work starts we close the room with plastic sheeting, cover the floor and the vents, and keep children and pets well away. What we disturb stays inside that room until it is cleaned up.
3Remove or seal, then clean
Some components come out, such as an old sash or a run of trim. Others are better sealed or enclosed, which is also a recognized abatement method. We bag the waste, clean every surface in the room and give you a written record of what was done and where.

Couldn’t have been more blessed than to have had the Apex team led by Nate the owner, service our home!! With permission, Apex began working within 30 minutes on our home when we called for help!! We were in Mexico but that didn’t stop them. Apex treated our home as if it was their home. They were so clean and organized considering that they were working with over 6,000 gallons of water. There was thick sticky mud to work with. There was so much moisture that at one time I thought it was raining in the house. It didn’t matter at what time of day or night, they were either there or could be reached as fast as lightning. I can’t say enough of how pleased I was with their performance, workmanship, quality and professionalism!! I NEVER had any anxiety about the damage that was done due to water because Apex ensured me they were on top of the situation and they were. There was nothing that they couldn’t do. They were aware of everything and could handle it! The team was clean and quiet. In fact, I told them to turn on some tunes because they were so serious as they worked away to save what they could and they did. What a team… The team leader journaled all their work. They packed and put household items away from water and moisture with care and accuracy. I don’t believe there is another company out there that can match the quality of workmanship Apex did. Thank you Nate and the Apex team for such thoughtful professional care.. We still have a ways to go, but because of you guys, it is minimal considering what it could have been!!!!. Why homeowners hire us for lead paint removal

Finding out whether you have a lead problem should not cost you a contract. The inspection and the written estimate are free, and you are welcome to compare ours with other quotes. You sign only if you choose us, and plenty of people simply want to know.
Removal is not the only option
Tearing out every painted surface is the most expensive answer, and often not the needed one. Paint in good condition can sometimes be sealed or enclosed instead. We tell you which surfaces need to go, which can be covered and which are fine as they are.

Lead dust is hardest on young children and on pregnant women, so we plan the job around the people in the house. Tell us about a nursery, a crawling baby or a pregnancy. We schedule the work, and the rooms we close, to keep them clear of it.

Lead abatement questions homeowners ask

How do I know if my home has lead paint?
Age is the first clue. Lead paint was banned for residential use in 1978, so any home built before then may have it, usually under newer layers. It is most often found on windows, doors, trim, stairs and porches. The only way to be sure is to test the paint, and a free inspection tells you which surfaces are worth testing.
Is lead paint dangerous if it is not peeling?
Lead paint in good condition, under sound newer paint, is usually not a hazard. It becomes a hazard when it chips, when windows and doors rub it into dust, or when renovation sands or cuts through it. Children and pregnant women are most at risk from that dust. If work is planned, test before you start.
Do I need to leave the house during lead abatement?
You need to stay out of the work area, and for larger jobs it is simpler to be out of the house while we work. The area is sealed with plastic and cleaned before it reopens. We tell you at the estimate stage which rooms are affected and for how long, so you can plan around it.
How much does lead abatement cost?
It depends on how many components contain lead and whether they are removed and replaced, stripped, or sealed in place. Windows and trim in one room is a small job. A whole exterior is not. After an inspection you get an itemized written estimate with no obligation, and we offer 0% financing options.
I am selling or renting out an older home. What do I have to tell people about lead?
Federal law requires sellers and landlords of most homes built before 1978 to disclose any lead-based paint they know about, and to give the buyer or tenant the EPA lead pamphlet, before a contract or lease is signed. It does not require you to test or to remove anything. Your agent or attorney can confirm what applies to you, and our written record gives you something accurate to disclose.
